According to a May, 2004 letter written by the Department of Labor Office of Enforcement FLSA Team, "The regulations do not limit an employer's ability to track working time. Consequently, it is not a violation of the FLSA or its regulations for an employer to track an employees working time, even if the employee is exempt."
Employers may have many valid reasons to track the time salaried employees work, including:
1. Management may need to track the cost center, project, or job gross pay is allocated to;
2. Management may need to track overall time an employee spends working in the event they need to be replaced for a temporary leave or retirement;
3. Management may require proof of the hours worked.
If you have salaried employees and want to track their time, Webclock is for you! In addition to using WebClock to punch in and out, you may also use WebClock for salaried employees to simply add their daily time worked using a timesheet. Cost tracking, whether by department, job, or project may also be implemented using TimeSheets.
