The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency has been working hard to make it easier for employers to do business with the agency.  Beginning third quarter, 2012 the following changes will be implemented:

• A new form will be available that will replace six (6) that are currently filed
• On-line services will be enhanced, and
• Two new data uploads will be unveiled.

In 1977, an increase to the FUTA payroll tax was increased .2% with the provision that it expire June 30, 2011.  Will Congress take any action to extend the surcharge?

Earlier today, Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT), Ranking Member, Senate Finance Committee and Representative Erik Paulsen (R-3^rd, MN) introduced the “Family and Retirement Health Investment Act of 2011.”   The legislation makes a number of changes to strengthen and expand health savings accounts (HSAs) and flexible spending accounts (FSAs).
